“Natural birth is a life altering experience for a woman”
The BirthBuddy system makes today’s natural childbirth easier, faster and safer.
The BirthBuddy system takes the guesswork and uncertainty out of the “pushing” stage of the birthing process. It is simple to understand and easy to use, taking the complication out of how to push effectively.
Health-care professionals who have used the BirthBuddy believe that it can reduce the time for the “pushing” stage of labor by as much as 30% to 50%. This is particularly important for first-time mothers and those having an epidural. First-time mothers have no idea how to push effectively and, today, 80% of mothers choosing to have a natural birth, at some point, are given an epidural. This can cause the mother to have a reduced urge to push, as well as not being able to control her pushing. When used according to the instructions, the BirthBuddy system forces the birth mother to use the proper muscles to advance the baby down the birth canal.
Shorter “pushing” times result in less fatigue for the mother and less stress on the baby.
Having a BirthBuddy gives the birth mother confidence that she is pushing effectively, and makes her feel that she is in control of the birthing process. And, it has been found that the mother’s memory of the birth is enhanced if she can be more confident and in control of the birthing process.
Using the BirthBuddy helps minimize unwelcomed “interventions.” The number of Cesarean Sections, vacuum extractions and the use of forceps could all be reduced if the birth mother can be more effective at “pushing.” The current national average for C-sections is 32%, far above the desired goal of 15%.
Use of the BirthBuddy can potentially delay the need for an epidural and/or Pitocin (or other drugs), all of which are undesirable for both the baby and the mother.
Instead of just being in the way of things going on in the delivery room, helping the mother use the BirthBuddy makes the father a valuable part of the experience. Anyone, of course, can help the mother use the BirthBudddy, but it is a wonderful way for the father to participate in the birthing process if he is fortunate enough to be there.
